We just wrapped up design week in Portland this past weekend, and it was a really exciting time! I saw a lot of awesome furniture from the Pacific Northwest at the IDS West Offsite Showcase at Rejuvenation (See Photos Below). The League of Women Designers hosted an incredible talk with pattern designers, Pattern People (of Portland) and industrial/furniture designer, Felica Ferrone, of FFerone Designs (Chicago). It was the best Design Week Portland yet, and left me feeling energized and excited by the amazing design community we have in this region.
Revolution Design House and Ben Barber Studio (Vancouver, B.C.) were featured at IDS West Offsite
Next up, NYC! Bosque will be rep’ing the Pacific Northwest via the American Design Club at their exhibit GROWTH, part of NYCxDesign May 5-17. If you are in town, or want an excuse to head there for the weekend, you can see Pingo Vase, designed by Bosque and produced by Andy Paiko, along with many other amazing designs that promote/sustain growth inside a greenhouse right in the city! The exhibit will take place all week at :
26 Astor Place
New York, NY 10003
Make a day or weekend of it. My picks for the week:
- Artek and the Aaltos http://www.bgc.bard.edu/gallery/gallery-at-bgc/artek-and-aaltos.html
- ICFF (The International Contemporary Furniture Fair) May 14-17 at the Javits Center
Must-see booths at the fair:
Be sure to check out the winners of the ICFF studio contest, eleven up-and-coming designers chosen by established industry professionals to represent what’s new/next in furniture design.
I am most excited about Ana Arana’s Gali Kitchen System!
